Icon of Bl. János Brenner

September 27, 2024 | Media

Cistercian recently received a large and beautiful icon of Bl. János Brenner – the Cistercian monk martyred for refusing to stop serving as a priest in communist Hungary. The icon was “written” by Oleh Skoropadsky (cathodox.com), a Byzantine Catholic of Ukraine.  By a fortunate set of circumstances, Mr. Skoropadsky was in Dallas and spoke to Form VIII (and to several teachers and monks) about the tradition of Eastern iconography. It was a great privilege to hear directly from the artist who created a work our community will undoubtedly treasure for decades to come!
