Cistercian has greatly benefited from the generosity of its current parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and friends. Thanks to the many Cistercian families over the years, beautiful facilities provide an exceptional environment where an outstanding faculty educates our students who grow academically, artistically, athletically, and spiritually.
Your gifts always carry special significance because they are never used to cover annual expense items. At Cistercian, all yearly expenses are covered by tuition and the contributed services of the monks. You can financially support Cistercian and its mission in many ways. We hope the following pages describe the various scholarships, annual efforts, endowments, and planned gifts made possible by you and those who came before you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does my gift really count?
A: Yes! Regardless of the size of the gift, every gift counts. Your gifts and pledges help the school financially by funding student scholarships, sustaining the school’s smaller capital projects each year, and planning for the future. In addition, your participation reinforces our enthusiasm and our drive at Cistercian.
Q: What does my gift do for Cistercian?
A: There are several different opportunities to help Cistercian. Your annual gift to Sustentation helps the School complete smaller capital projects over the summer, such as repairing a roof or a water line on campus. Your gift to the annual Alumni Phonathon helps the school provide important scholarships for its students since more than 20% of the Cistercian student body receives financial aid. There are also additional scholarship funds to which you can give, as well as more long-term gifts, like membership in Cistercian’s planned giving program, the Memorare Society.
Q: How can I make a gift?
A: You can support Cistercian by making a pledge, gift, or bequest. To make a gift today or for more information, contact Erin Hart at ehart@cistercian.org or 469-499-5406. You may also use our online giving form to designate your gift.
Q: What is the Memorare Society?
A: The Memorare Society is a group of parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and friends who have remembered Cistercian in their estate plans. It is a special way to create a living legacy at the Abbey or the School. The society’s name is taken from the first word and title of St. Bernard’s prayer to the Virgin Mary, ‘Memorare,’ which aptly means remember. Becoming a Memorare Society member is easy – include Cistercian in your estate plans and inform the Cistercian Development Office of your intentions.
