Fine Arts

Mrs. Tasia Magill, Head of Department

The Cistercian Fine Arts Department is dedicated to awaking and inspiring each student’s innate creativity and fostering an aesthetic appreciation of our world. The goal of the Cistercian Fine Arts Department is to give the student the means, in one art form or several, to express his vision as well as to appreciate the expressions of others.

In the first Forms of Middle School students delve into the study of visual art and music. Before they advance to Upper School they have the opportunity to expand this study by adding Drama and Art History.

The Upper School art electives offer a more rigorous and prolonged concentration in specific disciplines, such as Theater History, Film Studies, Technical Theater, Drawing, Painting, Screen Printing, and Photography. Students are required to devote four of their six high school electives to Arts classes so they are able to graduate with a full arts accreditation. Colleges and beyond are looking for students who are able to use creative problem solving and out of the box thinking that the arts exercise. We are proud to continue develop our arts programing to inspire and drive our well-rounded scholars.
