AP Exams

Cistercian offers no AP or College Board courses but rather has built a fully independent curriculum in which the coursework requirements typically meet or exceed the intellectual demands, critical thinking skills, and depth of understanding required in an AP course. As a consequence, Cistercian students do very well on numerous AP tests, achieving AP recognition even though they do not take AP-recognized courses.

In order to help students who wish to take AP Exams, Cistercian will administer exams on campus for students who wish to participate. Additionally, Cistercian’s AP Coordinator (Mrs. Kerr) and Testing Director (Mr. Humphries) will organize registration, fee collection, and exam day scheduling for Cistercian students. Cistercian will administer paper-and-pencil exams on campus for students who wish to participate. Start times are 8:30 a.m. for morning exams, and 1:00 p.m. for afternoon exams.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the registration codes for AP Exams will be given to all US students. Students are encouraged to speak with their Form Masters and teachers when deciding if they should take a particular exam. Enrollment must be completed by each student on his own College Board account by November 11. Any change in registration (adding or canceling an exam) after this date will incur a $40 fee per exam from College Board. The exams themselves cost $97 each. The College Board fees will be added to individual FACTS accounts in May.
