Beatification of Fr. Janos (John) Brenner

May 1, 2018 | Media

Fr. Paul,

Attached are two photos from the beatification. Several Cistercians were present, including Fr. Julius, Fr. Bernard, and Abbot Peter. Almost 20K were present, 5K more than expected. Cardinal Amato presided in Latin and Cardinal Erdo preached.

The most moving parts of the ceremony was when Fr. Joseph Brenner placed his brother’s relics in a beautiful reliquary next to the altar and then when he named his brother among the saints when he read his part of Canon I. He became very emotional, his voice quivering.

Fr. Bernard and I had dinner last night with the Pena Vega family. They attended the beatification today.

Please share. Greetings to all.

Fr. Peter

Silence and the Word

When Moses asks God to provide a name that he might share with the enslaved Israelites in Egypt, “God replied to Moses: ‘I am who I am.’ Then He added: ‘This is what you will tell the Israelites: I am has sent me to you.’ God spoke further to Moses: ‘This is what you will say to the Israelites: The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you’” (Exodus 3:14-15).
